Lakeville Laundry Room & Home Office Remodel: Smarter Storage for Everyday Spaces

As part of a larger main-level renovation, these Lakeville homeowners also updated two of the spaces that do some of the most practical work in the home: the laundry/mudroom and home office. The goal was not to make either room overly elaborate. It was to add useful storage, simplify everyday routines, and carry the softer contemporary feel of the main level into spaces that had been more utilitarian.

Honey-Doers added custom cabinetry to both rooms, along with durable luxury vinyl tile flooring. In the laundry/mudroom, paint-grade poplar cabinetry and a laminate work surface created significantly more storage and a more organized place for daily household tasks. In the office, white melamine cabinetry provided a clean, durable built-in storage solution.

Goals: Make Everyday Spaces More Useful

The homeowners wanted these smaller rooms to feel more intentional and better organized while still fitting naturally with the rest of the main level. Storage was the clearest priority, especially in the laundry/mudroom, where everyday household items needed more practical places to live.

Because these rooms serve specific functions, the design focused on durable materials and straightforward storage rather than adding details simply for appearance. The result is a pair of spaces that feel finished and connected to the rest of the home without losing their practical purpose.

More Storage in the Laundry & Mudroom

Custom paint-grade poplar cabinetry became the main improvement in the laundry/mudroom. The new storage takes better advantage of the available wall space and gives the homeowners more room to organize household supplies and the items that naturally collect near an entry.

A laminate countertop adds an easy-care work surface, while luxury vinyl tile flooring provides a durable finish suited to a hardworking room. Together, the changes make the space easier to use without asking it to be anything more complicated than it needs to be.

A Cleaner, More Organized Home Office

The office followed the same practical approach. White melamine cabinetry added built-in storage while keeping the room light and visually simple. Luxury vinyl tile continued the durable flooring used in the laundry area.

Rather than treating the office as a separate design statement, the finishes were selected to support the broader goal for the home: updated spaces that feel coordinated, comfortable, and easy to maintain.

The Result: Better Function in the Rooms Used Every Day

The laundry/mudroom and office were smaller pieces of the larger main-level renovation, but they show how much difference thoughtful storage can make. The added cabinetry gives everyday items a place to go, the new flooring is suited to regular use, and both rooms now feel more finished and connected to the spaces around them.
